Children's Book — Illustration & Story Design

Overview
A children's book project focused on storytelling, illustration and visual narrative. The project explores how design, typography and illustration can create engaging experiences for young readers.
Context
Fernando Fantasmo follows a young boy and his ghostly companion through adventures in a magical European city. The project required balancing whimsy with sophistication, creating visuals that appeal to children while satisfying adult aesthetics.
Challenge
Develop a visual language that captures childhood wonder without becoming overly saccharine. The illustrations needed personality and warmth while maintaining artistic integrity that would make the book a lasting treasure.
Approach
We crafted a painterly illustration style with soft, luminous colors and atmospheric backgrounds. Character designs emphasize expressive simplicity—the ghost's minimal features convey emotion through subtle gestures. Typography was carefully selected to complement the illustrations without competing.
Outcome
The project demonstrates our capability in editorial design and illustration direction. Fernando Fantasmo showcases how thoughtful design choices can elevate children's publishing, creating work that resonates across generations.
